Think of careers you would love to have. They dont have to be a "dream job", but they can be. Anything at all that you think would be an awesome career. Often, I think about the "what if I...." in regards to choosing a profession. Here's my list, in no specific order. I will name the major, or area of interest, and a corresponding career.
Currently, I am an Early Childhood Education major, and I hope to teach prek- 3rd grade.
- B.F.A in Musical Theater- This one is sort of a no brainer, I would pursue a career as an actor in a major city.
-B.F.A inVocal Performance- This too is obvious; I would pursue work in the Opera World.
-B.F.A in Horn Performance- I dont think I would try to pusue this at the professional level, because it is so incredibly competitive, but it would be fun to be in many symphony orchestras, or playing as a professional in a number of different settings.
-B.A in German- I have often thought about doing this. And I still may. I would love to teach German at the high school level, but I would also love to study German history, translate works, study German film and literature, among other things.
-B.M in Music Education- I would love to be a Music teacher. ( But thanks to the education budget cuts in the U.S- it would be nearly impossible.)
-B.A in Deaf Studies/ASL- I have just recently thought of this as a fun and exciting profession. Being an interpreter to the deaf would be a really interesting, never dull job! Also, being a teacher of the deaf sounds like another really great job.
Interesting stuff to think about. Wouldnt you say?
